Anbuley – M33ba

Anbuley releases her new hit on Seayou Records, again produced by mighty TIPANIC! M33ba, which is Ga for ‘Why’, is about the injustice in the world, the uneven distribution of wealth on a global scale and with particular regard to Africa. The notion behind the song is: What would Mama Africa sing if she had a voice?

Anbuley was born in Vienna to Ghanaian parents, lived in Ghana from age 4 to 9, and in Vienna since then. She sees herself both fully as Ghanaian and European, no compromises, an African girl who can also talk some serious Viennese slang. Her look at European culture is one from close range, but she has never lost touch with Ghanaian culture and her heritage. Her African influence is just as contemporary with no hint of nostalgia or melancholy. This finds expression in her music: an amalgam of influences making you dance no matter where you’re from. It also reflects in her visual aesthetic and work, having been called nothing less than ‘hypnotizing’ by The Roots’ Questlove for instance. Anbuley has released 3 EPs on Seayou Records preceding M33ba and has established herself as one of the most promising African-European artists.
