In NY he recorded the EP “Doozicabraba e a Revolução Silenciosa" (organized with the producers K-Salaam and Beatnick). His music pleased the American critic, who nicknamed him “brazilian Jay-Z”. Ten years ago in São Paulo, with a group called Pentagono, Rael began his history in Brazilian hip hop, building an important path in the movement. In July 2010, the musician decided to launch his first sole album: "MP3 - Música Popular do Terceiro Mundo" (MP3 – Third World Popular Music), beyond hip hop: recorded with a band, added to the DJ, and genres like reggae and jazz, among others, sum up to his hip hop with African pinches. He released the album performing at Canada. In 2011, Rael travelled with Emicida to perform on Coachella Festival, in California. In July, did a new tour by Canada, performing at Montreal International Jazz Festival and Festival d’été de Quebéc. And 2012 was dedicated to recording his new album, “Ainda Bem que Eu Segui as Batidas do Meu Coração”, with K-Salaam & Beatnick, duo of producers from New York who came to Brazil specially for work with brazillian rapper. In the same year, rapper was also nominated on “Bet” category on VMB, brazilian MTV awards. The album was released on March 2013.

Meta & The Cornerstones

Influenced by Bob Marley and James Brown as well as local African musical traditions. Impressing audiences in Senegal since the age of 14, he arrived to New York City in 2002 and soon started collaborating with several noted hip hop artists. With his own band, Meta & the Cornerstones, Meta's powerful singing and songwriting abilities shine, as he reinvigorates reggae by reconnecting it with its African roots. Weaving between a multilingual palette of French, English, Wolof, and Fulani, his music breaks barriers as it builds bridges across the Atlantic.Promoting tolerance and unity, Meta's music is uplifting and positive, while it re-imagines reggae with an African aesthetic.“Meta and the Cornerstones have taken us back to the foundation of reggae music,' says Clive Chin, Jamaican producer for The Wailers, Dennis Brown, and Lee Perry. “It’s a band that sounds tight and wicked with infectious lyrics.”
