Afro-jazz singer-songwriter Somi is back in NYC (at least for now) after having been in Lagos, Nigeria, for most of this year. She will be performing at Drom on Tuesday, January the 15th, and after seeing how quickly her last performance at the Park Avenue Amory sold out I would suggest that tickets be purchased in advance. Somi will be sharing music from her upcoming album, most of which was inspired by and is reflective of her journey in Lagos. Judging from her last performance you can expect a soulful and upbeat show where she combines jazz with a more traditional African sound, creating unique melodies that represent her as musician of the African diaspora.
